The department of professional studies teaches courses that provide professional training for teachers. These courses are classified into foundations of education, educational psychology, curriculum studies, and educational pedagogy. All students who take the diploma and bachelor of education courses must take these professional studies courses.

The Department of Higher Education and Peace Studies focuses mainly on Post Graduate Programs such as the PhD and MPhil in Peace, Leadership, Security, and Strategic Studies. Students in the Department of Higher Education and Peace Studies will mainly be executives including civil servants, political leaders, religious leaders, and the business community. The mode of delivery will be through presentations by students and we shall have both physical and virtual sessions.

The Department of Science Education trains primary and secondary school teachers in science subjects such as mathematics, physics, biology, and chemistry. For such teachers, mathematics will be compulsory and the three subjects which are considered as integrated science for primary schools will be done as electives. The department aims at addressing the challenge of the shortage of science teachers in the region.

The department of arts and humanities education train primary and secondary school teachers to teach arts and humanities subjects such as English language, social studies, religious studies as recommended in Ugandan secondary and primary school curriculum. For such teachers, English language will be compulsory and the three subjects which are considered as arts subjects for the primary schools will be done as electives.

The Department of Vocational Studies Education focuses on training teachers to teach vocational studies subjects. Such subjects include; art and design, agriculture, business and entrepreneurship studies, home management and nutrition, and technological studies. Graduates of such education can work as teachers but also can be self-employed in the sectors of their study.

The Department of Special Needs Education trains teachers who are specialized in handling children with special needs in primary and secondary schools. Specialized training will be given in hearing impairment, visual impairment, and intellectual impairment all with a practical skills training program.

The Department of Early Childhood Development and Education aims at providing affordable, culturally relevant and quality ECD training. The department offers certificate courses, diploma courses and bachelor’s degree courses. The department collaborates with other ECD institutions in the country including the directorate of early childhood education in the Ministry of Education and Sports, universities and other institutions providing early childhood care and training.
