Maj. Mary Namyalo Nkugwa is a senior military officer in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and a member of the Faculty of Peace and Diplomacy at the KAPATU Project. She serves as the Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department for the UPDF, where she directs healthcare technology, medical infrastructure, and clinical engineering across Uganda’s military health facilities. Throughout her career, she has specialised in modernising medical logistics and leading specialised emergency healthcare training alongside international partners. In addition to her technical leadership, Major Namyalo has extensive experience in national development and defence welfare initiatives. At KAPATU, she leverages her expertise in medical logistics and institutional leadership to teach the vital connection between human security, healthcare stability, and sustainable peacebuilding.
